In this two-day training course, you will learn how to apply cognitive behavioral couple therapy (CBCT) for PTSD. This evidence-based treatment focuses not only on reducing PTSD symptoms, but also on improving functioning within the relationship.
We discuss how to use cognitive-behavioral interventions for challenges in intimate relationships and how to combine them with proven effective PTSD treatments for optimal results. You will learn how to understand individual problems in the context of interpersonal dynamics.
Through case discussions, role-playing, and a focus on clinical themes such as domestic violence and substance abuse, we prepare you to effectively apply cognitive behavioral relationship therapy with a variety of couples.
After completing the course, participants will be able to:
- Understanding why relationship therapy is used in the treatment of PTSD and comorbid issues
- Develop a case conceptualization of the cognitive and behavioral mechanisms that perpetuate PTSD and relationship problems.
